RE is a show. That's the working title, I'm still coming up with a good name.

The idea

A 2-hour show with a Portland and Pacific Northwest focus, mainly Portland's East Side. Mix of music and talk. The talk is generally a split interview segment of somebody in the community. Feels more like a "traditional format" radio show than a lot of freeform, even including very vintage radio commercials when I can find them, and a good balance of talk and music segments along with news at the top of the second hour. Date will be frequently mentioned in the show so it's repeatable without confusing the online listener, or distributable as a podcast.

For live shows, listener interaction via Twitter and station chat will be part of it.

The ingredients

Songs are shit I like. Anything from trip-hop to bluegrass to industrial to film scores to straight-up pop. Heavy on the female vocals cause I dig 'em. Possibly major label, definitely quite often from farther away from Portland. If I'm particularly impressed by a Portland band I'll try to play some of their stuff or have someone for an interview.

Interview is with somebody with a community role or focus, or something of interest. The geographical focus is primarily, but not entirely on Portland's East Side, mainly inner NE and SE at first, maybe expanding to North Portland if the show gains traction. So is the community bulletin board (a few community announcements) and so forth. The interview may cover community, activist, political or similar topics, and may have a wider Pacific Northwest focus, or even a global focus (i.e. social justice, environmentalism, etc).

"Commercials" are archival copy of decades-old radio commercials:
